Hi, folks - DHS sent an email yesterday about a website called www.directsupportconnect.com for people with disabilities and PCA's to connect
Did this committee have something to do with that website?
Good Morning Everyone! We will get started here in just a few minutes.
Brings back memories...
I saw it on TV way back when.
Sadie Stabnow ( they/them )
that was awesome! thanks for sharing!
Who are our best advocates in Congress? I know about Senators Abeler and Benson in our corner....
I just want to share that I think the agenda for today's meeting was incredible. This is a wonderful opprotunity and presentation to draw in the next generation. Wonderful job everyone!!
I mean - who are our best advocates in the MN legislature?
I m old enough to remember busses with out lifts
Great lists! I am new to this and would like to know more about lobbying and public advocacy.
senator marty has been a strong advocate for many years too
https://www.gis.leg.mn/iMaps/districts/ Find out who represents you here!
This is a great meeting. I have to go on to another meeting. I truly enjoyed being part of this. Talk to all of you later.
How do we deal with compromises in the legislature? We know that'll happen sometimes...
we need too
we need to educate the public about wrong words used for disabled
Oh, yes - people inclusive language is good, definition as blind, deaf, crazy, etc. is not.
Many of the organization in MN have been working on adjusting language in some statutes
We are people first and a disability is just one detail in our lives or in the life of someone we love or are friends with.
Thank you everyone
But changing language in society is harder to legislate- we have to teach people to use kinder words
